How We Met
Like all great modern love stories, ours began with a DM.
Back in the glory days of college, Nick was studying at Penn and Aleshia was at Villanova—two rival schools united by a shared hatred of the other unknown Philly schools. One day, Nick stumbled across a very reputable Instagram account that highlighted “attractive student-athletes” (yes, that was a thing 🫠), and there she was: Aleshia, a California-raised, Villanova softball player just trying to survive East Coast winters. He slid into her DMs with what can only be described as a perfectly timed message—and somehow, it worked.
Fast forward to graduation: Aleshia always knew she’d make her way back to California, and Nick had already begun his tech career in San Francisco. Aleshia tossed her Villanova master’s acceptance like it was a flyer on Locust Walk, applied to grad school in the Bay Area, got into both Stanford and Berkeley, and chose Stanford—because, obviously.
We dated long(ish) distance for two years—San Francisco to Stanford—learning how to make a relationship work through traffic, train rides, and the occasional (aka constant) weekend stays. When grad school wrapped, Aleshia moved in with Nick and his roommate Dave, creating the potential for a dangerous co-ed 3X3 basketball team. Sadly, COVID hit, Dave left for B school, and that side quest was never realized.
Since then, it's been just us—through pandemic macaron attempts, a move to Oakland, another move to L.A., and most recently, welcoming our (extremely perfect) mini doxxie, Moki, to the family.
And now, after years of cities, schools, and 4 different moves… we’re getting married!
